Let me say that again since our Southern lips only utter it about every five years.
Snow day in ALABAMA!
Down here in the south we build sandcastles, not snowmen!
On the rare occassion that snow is even mentioned in our conversations, it goes something like this:
“You remember the snow of 1996?”
But early in December, on the night of Joel’s company party, it snowed….and STUCK! Snow flurries alone are a bit of a novelty here, but the sticking is just a downright miracle.
We woke the next morning to this breathtaking winter wonderland.
It was starting to melt pretty quickly, so we got up and going uncharacteristicly early for a Saturday morning.
The kids had so much fun!
Lottie was pretty frisky. It was really cute.
Lots of snowball fighting going on.
And if this isn’t the funniest picture. A beach chair next to a snowman(a melting one). I guess that’s how we do snow down here.
After using up a good bit of the snow in the back yard, they moved to the front to gather more. Madeline found the cars to be a great source.
Wilton’s little friend lives just three doors down from us and stopped by for a visit. They were so adorable playing together!
The view down the street was so different from what we’re used to seeing every day.
As I mentioned in my last post, I’m not a cold weather person, but the snow is pretty and I enjoyed watching my kids playing in it. I ran out to take these few pictures, and then back in to cozy up by the fire and watch from the window.
Good bye, lovely snow! See you in another four or five years!
